We need to sell our motorhome quite quickly and have just received a valuation from a company we found online who buy any motorhome. Is there anything to watch out for? They say they will pay by bank transfer. Anyone done any business with them?

Company called Camperbuyer.com

I would say contact a dealer or two first, they are desperate for stock. Also put it on here on classified, you never know, someone may be looking for that particular van right now.

Thanks. I’ll ring up a couple and see what they say but it’s an old van - 02 and a bit tatty so not that hopeful! We may just have to take the offer which doesn’t seem unreasonable. Though I assume their practice is to drop offer once they see van and you give in because it’s easy. No one used a company like this?

Hi Lizi,
I may be interested in your van, we have a Possl Roadcamp R at the moment but are looking for something bigger to do more touring, I am off work for the next few days and live in Brighton so could view quite quickly...... Do give me a shout via private message and your number (or have mine if you'd prefer) and maybe I can find out more about your Rapido......... All good wishes Andy.

Somerset motorhome Centre 01823444193 or 07860 428477 we sold our Autotrail imala to them , told them it had some damp gave me price over phone subject to guys checking it over when they came to house they phoned h/o and money was in a/c within the hour.

If you do sell to this camper place make sure the money is in your account before you release the van or any docs. Obvious i know.

Get at least 3 quotes, I found webuyanymotorhome to be one of the lowest bidders.

Just sold mine to 4 Front down the M23. Decent price. Speak to John
Actually just seen the age of your van so might be out of their scope but you never know

A family member had to sell their Autosleeper Legend quickly. A much loved van, well maintained and in excellent condition. They were heartbroken to sell. The company concerned made a reasonable initial offer, but when push came to shove they vey aggressively reduced their offer in a way which upset the very recently bereaved family member. If I’d known before it was too late I’d have told the guy where he could stick his offer and sold elsewhere. In my view they recognised a vulnerable person and took full advantage.
And yes, I worked in sales for many years so am fully aware of negotiations, profit margins, and running a business, which I still do. All I’d say is, decide on your walk away point before the final assessment/sales meeting and don’t let them bully their way below it, because you can bet they’ll try.

I am not after starting anything and am only stating FACT, beware most of the non descript We will buy your Motorhome outfits. Many are way beyond dodgy and run by traveller families. You will not get a fair price as it is all about making them maximum profit. Speak to a few dealers and check similar vans on ebay for a guide of what it is worth. Prices are still very high and will probably surprise you

I used to buy and sell vans and regularly got told about how the price I offered was so much better than the guy that kept pestering them

I would throroughly recommend SMCmotorhomes in Newark. So easy to deal with over the telephone and email. And for me they gave me a great offer.

Good luck with the sale .

Thanks everyone. Just thought I’d update - the chap from the company arrived early, did a really thorough inspection and found some damp alongside a couple of things we already knew about. He made an offer we were happy with considering age and vehicle state. We were impressed with company and no pressure to take their offer. In addition, I’ve learned a few things about inspecting a prospective motorhome!

Did you know about the damp?

No we didn’t know about damp. But we had not had hab checks done etc because we bought an old vehicle and didn’t think it mattered. I think I would take a damp meter with me when looking for a new one. (Would have to buy one first!).
