Just out of interest, is it simple to add an additional solar panel? Are there any considerations, aside from space and funds?

Mainly depends on whether your solar controller can handle the voltage (if added in series) or the current (if added in parallel). More details needed of the existing system plus the extra panel.

Worst case you can always add a new panel with its own controller and then to your battery. Neater if your existing controller can handle more watts and have them both connected in parallel to it. If you don't have one already upgrade to a branded MPPT controller.

Funnily enough I have 'upgraded' to a Votronic 250. I don't know what the existing solar panel is, but suspect it is 100 watts.

It sounds like I could add another panel up to 150 watts.

If I double the Watts to say 200, would that mean a theoretical doubling of the energy available to recharge the batteries?

More solar = more harvest. More batteries= more storage (bigger barn😁)
