A7 or AP7 north from Alicante

Will be heading north from Alicante towards Valencia and wondering what the pros and cons of taking the A7 or AP7 (now I think the toll has been removed?)

Google maps says A7 is 8 miles shorter, but appears to go up into the mountains rather than the AP7 staying close to the coast.

Any preferences?

No reason not to use the AP7 now, I will be doing so in the next few weeks.

coast route used to be quite slow in places but now the motorway is free i would hope this will change

We enjoy the A7, the scenery is better, not busy, see a bit of Spain you wouldn't normally see. We've stopped a few times wildcamping near Alcoy..

Just done the AP7 for the first time, its a very nice road indeed, pretty scenery, so unless you really need to be on the A7 I'd use the AP7.

I'd use the AP7 now free, failing that I have always used the A7 to crevillente then E903/A33/A35/ back on A7 @LÁlcudia & on toValencia & bypass . Far quicker than A7.
