Giottiline Siena 385

Hi, so we just got a Giottiline Siena 385 model 2022, as an optional extra I ordered it with the 5th seat for adding another passenger to the standard 4, however we have no idea how to set it up and which way the cushions should go.. which cushions should go where?

I also get the feeling that there is a board for the backrest missing unless I have to take a piece from somewhere else in the van and itā€™s multipurpose.

Can someone point me to a place where I would find instructions or video of how to set this up properly and safely because anyway we try it seems to not be very steady.

Any help would be welcome. I would imagine it should work something like in this attached video around min. 18ā€ (not the same motorhome but the principle is the same, this is why Iā€™m starting to think the part the flaps up is missing).

P.s. The dealer didnā€™t know the answer and told me to contact the manufacturer šŸ™„So I wrote to the manufacturer who didnā€™t reply (3weeks and several reminders later still no feedback)..

It's rear facing, the same as Adria. You simply transfer the frame complete with headrest (back rest) from the back to the side so it's backing the drivers seat. there should be a false step which pulls out to provide a foot rest.

Thanks for your answers, the thing is if I transfer the cushions as stated there will be a ā€œholeā€ in the backing of the seat (marked on one of the images in green) which, in case I step on the breaks, a person on this seat is just gonna fly out of that seat into the back of the front seat in a worst case scenario.

I think there should be a piece of wood that folds upwards like in the video but itā€™s just not there so Iā€™m wondering if this is a manufacturing defect / oversight or if there is another piece (maybe the false bottom from the shower) that doubles up as a safe backing for that seat?

I agree what are the holes in the seat base for???

Also shouldn't the seat be a 3 point seatbelt.

I think some parts are missing??

Cheers James

That looks very much like mu Adria set up, I have a metal frame with downward prongs that go through the bas board that carry the head rear. I think, Iā€™ve never used it, but have dismantled it to play with batteries

Are they not there to allow the seatbelt up past the base board ?
Yes thatā€™s it. Thatā€™s just the base plate covering whatā€™s underneath the seat.

underneath is the batterie, some other electrical stuff and a steel frame that holds the seatbelt which is only an ā€œaround the waistā€ seatbelt which is fine. No 3 point.

Hi everyone, any ideas where I can find more info on this issue or a video of a similar built on how this should work?

Iā€™m still without a solution and putting just the cushions without a wooden board seems very unsafe

Bump.

Sorry, can't help but seems amazing that neither dealer nor manufacturer can help when you've spent so much money.

As has just been said. You really need to be back to the dealer insisting they show you. It should have been part of the handover, esp if it is a new vehicle. They sold it to you itā€™s their responsibility to find out and show you how it works. At the moment you have paid for an optional extra which is either missing parts, unsafe or unusable due to lack of information.

So I spoke to the manufacturer and they insisted the way it is it is safe and intended to be used just as is.

That means leaving a hole behind the back cushion thatā€™s half the size of the backing. I canā€™t comprehend how this would be considered road safe.

I insisted with them that itā€™s an issue and after I pressured them they agreed to either send a new seat backing which has to be installed by my local dealer or alternatively they offered to send a cushion with a reinforced wooden backing.

I opted for the refit of the backing instead of a cushion at it seems the safer option but Iā€™m still baffled how they sell a vehicle like this without any training / instructions to their dealers.

I will let you know once o have the new part in hand / installed so hopefully can close the thread.

Thatā€™s an older model, so I received some spare parts after I insisted it wasnā€™t safe and hat to cut them to dimension and fit them myself.

Simple fix in the end it took me 10mins to attach it with some regular hinges but it took forever to get that small piece of wood from the manufacturer (4months) and a lot of hassle for whatā€™s clearly not well thought out design.

Hopefully future owners wonā€™t have the same issues in newer models.
