Every KG counts in a Compact! Original owner specced a tow bar from new but I've been dragging it around on the back of the moho for about 10,000 miles. Now removed. I can't believe how rusty it is for just three years old. I know it's just surface rust, but the van looks much cleaner now it's removed. Not sure what to do with it now though, I wonder if there's a market for them.

I saved over 30kg by removing two ridiculously heavy gel batteries and replacing them with one LiFePO4. I also gained a lot of extra useable Ah.
Yes, I did the same. Still gong to have to up plate though as I've added a/c, spare wheel and a garage full of 'stuff'.

And 39Kg of weight right where you do not want it.

I took one off a CI many moons ago. The change in vehicle handling was magical;.

One day I promise to sort the “stuff” in my garage, there must be a few extra Kgs to be had from all that stuff we never use, but keep taking with us “Just In Case”

We HAD corner steadies which when they put the towbar on they strengthened them and made the back end so heavy the steadies scraped the ground on slopes/ferries
When I removed them the back end went UP 3 inches never hit the ground since the steadies weighed in at 20kg each with the extra strengthening

Saw someone forget to wind the rear corner steadies up the other day. My shout and arm waving was too late. Poor chap couldn't wind one of them up or down because of a bend in the threaded shaft. I left before he had resolved the problem but I suspect he might have had to remove them completely. We all make mistakes and learn from them (hopefully).

I look forward to finding out this weekend. Adding rear air-assist recently in prep for the up plating was a drastic improvement too.

Stick it in the classifieds I'm sure it will sell and you won't have the hassle of taking it to the tip
