So, just had the Hymer MOT'd and the tester pointed out that the union between the pipe and the header tank was weeping slightly. Wasn't reported on when timing belt & engine service was done 100 miles ago ...

Took it to my local, highly regarded, fix-anything garage and they said best replace the entire hose (rather than just the 'O' ring) because the plastic union can be brittle.

Channel crossing already booked Sunday pm, part wouldn't be got and fitted till Monday.

So, anyone had this union fail catastrophically ? Minded to go but keep my eye on it and get it fixed it in the Algarve.

It's been a non-event so far ...

On last winter's trip I was initially checking it daily, then weekly, then when I had the bonnet open for anything else.

Coolant level doesn't change, sometimes the joint is moist, sometimes not.

Off to Spain, permanently, in August so I'll prob'ly have the hose changed before ..
