Hello All

I've just got my van (2008 Compass Avantgarde) back from the garage and they've told me that my van doesn't have a speedo sensor on the gearbox.
My speedo has stopped working and they can't find a solution beyond the actual speedo failing.

Is this common & does anyone know of a reasonably priced service centre that can fix it?
I found Autotronics on Google. Has anyone used them?

Any advice would be really helpful.

Cheers

If it doesn't have a sensor then someone would appear to have already tried fixing it? I'd take the cheapest route & fit a gps for the speedo .perfectly legal for the mot.

What is the chassis of your van?

Fiat, or Mercedes?

I assume if you don’t have a speedometer drive then it will be controlled via the ECU, so an auto electrician maybe the way to go. Often it can require sending the gauge cluster off for repair. Do you get any movement with the gauge? Have you given the dash a good bang whist driving to make sure needle isn’t stuck.

It's a Peugeot Boxer. I believe it is controlled via the ECU. There's a blanking plate on the gearbox where some have the speedo sensor.
I haven't tried the banging it option but I will.

It's only just happened. There's been no repair, just the garage telling me there's no factory sensor on this model. I will use a GPS in the interim but would like it fixed.
