As I mentioned a Centurion just rolled in and he has the 2 awning in tandem setup as against one large one as I have albeit mine is 6 metres. So it seems to me an interesting subject. 2 shorter awnings against one large one. My major con would be when it rains!
Thoughts?

Unfortunately not being as righteous as you Lenny the sun does not always shine on me;) so the inevitable split between the two canvasses will let the floor and kit underneath get wet? However as you have said there is a lot of merit to the concept, the big 6 metre awnings are always a worry.

I don’t know I might just go for one, as you say I could see rain coming through the gap and rendering the centre section a no go area, if they had a side garage door I could possibly see an argument for two.

Not content with 2 awnings, this Morelo Empire Liner has 3, 2 in tandem on the habitation side and 1 over the slide out. This has a mini in the back sign written ‘Tender to Morelo’ ??

I was about to say why stop at 2, but my theory was 2 x 3.5 with a 7m above, so you could wind out either 3.5 or the 7.

Go for a 2.5 and a 4, that way you have more size options.

and 1 over the slide out
I'd be embarrassed to call that a slide-out....more like a badly fitting wall panel. :D

The one over the slide-out is possibly a slide topper, only comes out as far as the slide and stops water, crap and leaves accumulating on the slide top.

He can’t get the full side out as blocked by the trees
