Made the mistake of dropping our son off at Richmond yesterday in my oil burner and I’ve never paid a ilex charge before - do I have to pay the ulez AND congestion charge (that’s over £30 for both BTW!!) I was literally there for 10 minutes

We did that and had a £250 bill to pay recieved it weeks after and a day aftrer last day chance when it would have gone to £700 from memory (cant remamber exact figures. £250 was paid and confirmed no further action ) think there name was dick turpin

Yep, if you entered the zone, regardless of how long, you’ll need to pay.

What I found difficult was actually confirming it. The tinternet is useless and I can’t seem to find details about whether you have entered and owe, or not. Not like the Dartford payment, which is far simpler. I paid as I has just popped my pinkie toe into the zone as it’s better than the fines to top up the Mayors holly mineral water stash.

ULEZ does not make any sense sometimes, we had a 2015 Nisssan Xtrail that was not compliant, but now we have a 2014 Nissan Infiniti QX70 that is a 2.2 ton 3 litre V6 and there is no charge to pay ......go figure

Revolver, re your 2008 van. That’s surprising to me. I’ve been putting in number plates from auto trader and it seems most vans older than 2016 or so are non-compliant
It surprised me too, but the section in my previous post was cut from the official website, after I entered the registration.

If you're under 3.5 tonnes it's £12.50, and you have until midnight on the third day after entering the zone before you incur a penalty. You can also set up auto pay if you trust them enough.

This vehicle will no longer need to pay a separate ULEZ charge

The new LEZ standards are the same as the ULEZ standards of Euro VI.

Anybody would think they wanted you to remove your number plates rather than spend £300 😉
Many vehicles in London have a number plate flipper

How come our 2014 Euro 5 Fiat 2.3 based motorhome is ULEZ compliant on their site when it talks about Euro 6 being the required standard. We are thinking of using Abbey Wood.
Do we still need to register on their site or does the number plate check that says it’s alright mean no need to register it.

Not in Scotland - there's no Pay to Pollute and a very brusque web site

We went to Heathrow airport for a holiday flight, parked our VW Caddy at the airport parking. Came home two weeks later, got a bill for £90 for not paying when we left the airport. No charge for going in though LOL

Our Caddy is euro 6 so no charge applicable, but why would they charge for exiting but not entering when it's the same road in and out ???

Simple follow the money back to Khan,
On a serious note many of the ULEZ cameras are still being vandalised and cut down so you were probably lucky on the way in to the Airport,
I saw two guys setting about the cameras near me the other night, I stopped and complemented them on there good work, I am normally a totally law abiding citizen but this rip off Mayor has made me very militant in my old age,

How does the "flipper" system work? Can you buy it on Ebay?
They're available on eBay although I haven't seen one they claim to switch number plates at the touch of a button. Totally illegal of course but I suspect they are used in London, the number of cars that ignore bus lanes and camera controlled restrictions would indicate they have cloned plates

There is a big crew of bikers on big Jap sports bikes that openly ride around london with no plates ,they seem to be drug dealers and are very intimidating , they never get any hassle from the police .

I have an account with tfl due to having to register as being foreign. My account states my 2007 transit mh is compliant.
It isn't.
I have even printed out screen shots showing it.
It still isn't.
and it seems most vans older than 2016 or so are non-compliant
They are. BUT if they have a lower NOx reading than the current limit they are compliant but you need a CoC from manufacturer stating it then argue with tfl.

Mine says all that & even if I continue to the payment it still says it.
It is only if you go to "manage my vehicles " on an account will it then state that No,it no longer complies.
It is a rubbish site always has been and appears to be built solely to scam.
How does the "flipper" system work? Can you buy it on Ebay?
Yes. It flips the plate showing to another one behind.
You can also by 'black outs'. Which lower a black blind over the number plate.

without discount, the current proposals for Manchester CAZ would cost me £60 to get to the motorway junction 1.6 miles away.

Same £60 to go fill with LPG
£60 for MOT, £120 or more if returning for a re-test
I live in Manchester and if they bring in the caz they won’t get a penny from me, hopefully if everyone does it how will they cope, only those stupid enough to pay it will suffer
