Saint Cast le Guildo to Martignon and back

An early(ish) off for us this morning having packed away our chairs overnight at the aire 😏
We went God knows what route to St Cast le Guildo. It may have been straight but they were lanes rather than roads.
We saw that there were 5 different designated parking spots so chose the first one. Rue de Brie, which was apt as I helped out a Spanish couple with a hose attachment and he insisted on giving us his local cheese as a thank you this morning. I don't eat cheese so Paula has benefitted.
The wipers were on upon arrival but it soon turned warm and a couple of young ladies brazenly walking to the beach in their thongs were observed. The beach is 200 m away and it looks like we have the prime position as they will have to return past us. If ever there was an excuse to get the chairs out 😏

The cycle route took us down the crescent Bay reminding us of St Ives. Lovely white sand and people in swimming.

Rather than cycle up the hill we walked (pushing the bikes because there was a no cycling sign and we tend to abide by the rules) along the promenade. Be careful at high tide as it obviously comes over !
Shops and restaurants in the front by the harbour of leisure boàts

we continued uphill out of town where we saw another aire. Great views over the harbour and across to the Cherbourg peninsula. We think it's free and Google reviews confirms it. You will need chocks to be level so beware as this may or may not be considered camping ☺️
Round some back lanes which had many horse fields we ended up at Martignon via a small voie vert.
We saw a bike shop and I stopped, but Paula went slightly past as her brakes aren't as good as they could be. 30 euros later she had 4 new pads but she would dependant upon my lack of brake replacing skills later.
The market was on so we bought the tomatoes that would never pass sainsburys standard at 4.95 a kilo. 2 of those 2 of those and 2 of those I told the man. 8 euros 40 later ! They were massive he ones he picked ! The town looked lovely though. The market was huge, people sat on chairs outside the pubs, loads of them, parking was atrocious for vehicles. There was even a gendarme stall but it seemed they weren't concerned about parking. Perhaps they have bigger fish to fry.
Downhill home for lunch inside the van then, wait for it, I was successful with both brake pads, realigning the wheels and adjusting the levers.
So pleased with my success we went for a walk. I wanted to find a crabbing net seen at Whitstable for 10 quid. We failed. But we did see people out in low tide digging some form of food up. We may give it a go
Rain has come this afternoon including lightning warnings so the chairs are away (for the moment) and it looks like jigsaw night.
