Fiat assist

Hi all our van is being picked up tomorrow by Fiat to go to dealer in Pisa for power steering failure. Has anyone been in this position being abroad dealing with Fiat assist re hotels and car hire etc. Thanks in advance.

been there done that in France , unbelievably bad , had 5 different tow trucks sent out before one eventually recovered us despite constantly telling them the size , twice (2 different hotels ) we were told we would have to leave as FA had not paid for the room & we could only stay if we paid the bill , sent a taxi to take us to the hotel but never told the driver or us which hotel it was , sent a taxi to take us to the airport to fly home but never told the taxi or us which airport we would fly from , taxi driver had to guess which airport & start heading that way as time was running out & no reply to messages ,
In fact they rarely replied to our messages, we were constantly chasing them , the pictures of recovery probably sums up their incompetence , over weight is understatement, went over a speed bump & I thought it was going to fall off , the rear wheels aren’t even on the platform but on the sliding ramps

Surely that's overloaded? As well as looking extremely dodgy at the back!

I had much better support from Fist Assist in France than from my insurer at the time (Comfort and Europ Assist).

Na, he’s got his extra running wheels down lol.
There’s no flipping way that would be moving, imagine the insurance companies responding to any accident.

I appreciate your view but it’s wrong , that was the the breakdown wagon from the fiat professional garage that fiat sent out , in fact that was the 5th one sent out (different garages) & the first to actually try to recover it & 2 weeks after the actual breakdown ,
, it was a policeman who opened the gate to let him out of the aire onto the public roads
All be it as it drove away he did say I didn’t see that ,he visited us most days to make sure we were ok and think was happy for us to just get it to a garage

This was the first recovery by FA (proper breakdown wagon ) , went to a fiat professional garage to get fixed , only to break down again with same fault , so for me Fiat assist & fiat professional garages didn’t work for me

As soon as I got back in the U.K. I took it back to the dealership & rejected it
I had completely lost confidence in comformattic & fiat professional

I swapped it out for a pilote with ZF9 auto

It wasn’t your choice so don’t worry about it

If it had fell off the truck it would have been the best result for me

Would have saved me the hassle of rejecting it

Possibly but would it have been an easy claim on the insurance.
Luckily you came out of it unscathed.
