Enforcement of 'No Wildcamping rules' in Spain.

I think you are referring to Dutch and German travellers who do the same anytime of year and any country. Seen them all over France in June when it's cheap then they go home.
Seen the same with the English, no different, even had words with some that were taking the pi@s, because at the end of the day, they become the same as travellers/Gypos, parasites. Sorry to use those words, but that's how we feel about them in our area, when they leave all their sh@t behind and steal everything they could get their hands on.

Too many people ignore those rules, and because of them we lose more spaces to park.
Agreed. Have seen it numerous times and have challenged some on occasions.
but those rules applies to all European countries and the UK

Really? Do you have a reference for that definition or are you simply stating what you would like it to be.

I have seen plenty folks on the NC500 groups reference the Spanish diagram but I’ve never seen them reference the equivalent for the UK - most likely because it probably doesn’t exist.

Some aires and stelplatz do allow it
Only when they are more than an Aire or Stelplatz, it will say so on the sign. Especially in Germany, no guarantee exists that local authorities or property owners won’t object. In certain regions like Bavaria or along the Baltic Sea, officials are more vigilant. Potential fines can reach hundreds of euros if you ignore “No Camping” signs. Nature reserves (Naturschutzgebiet) or beaches often impose especially hefty penalties if violated.

Lateral is sideways, side to side not end to end. Thus although it is A dimension it’s not the entire perimeter, just a part of it.
Yes of course you are right. The limit they take is the lateral one as most motorhomes do not open up longitudinally and your side windows could invade the path next to the road.

I take the view what ever you use , someone is paying for it

Our wing mirrors (mounted at bottom if side screens, not coach type) already do that, so what is the differenc?

The mirrors define the lateral limit of the vehicle in common sense.

We are contemplating going to Spain in winter, so in the South, but away a few kms from the coast.

I am asking now what members' experience is of enforcement those few kms away, on the basis that if not being enforced now, they are less likely to be enforced in Winter.
We went straight south past Madrid to Motril on South coast stayed there for a few days then turned left so to speak along South coast towards Almera, but , I measured approx 100 miles of unsightly Polly Tunnels even up mountains to the left and towards the sea on the right ,saw an enormous amount of Plastic sheeting dumped and deteriorating some in dry river beds, horrible to see, apart from that, nice scenery ,good roads , then we travelled up the East coast stopping here and there, particularly liked coast places around Mar Menor , stayed on campsite Area Narejos , near Los Alcarzares.

Don't like the plastic, it's there because the demand for Salad vegetables for export is high...everyone wants all year round salad...not just in the summer months...hense the Polyplastic growing houses..
Much rather see Polyplastic than big industry, making all the stuff we all need.
As for dumping the plastic...yep that's a big issue that needs addressing...🥴🇪🇦

And the vegans eating all that salad are saving the world 😂😂

I have noticed more camper stops propping up.
The number of camperstops increase, but cannot complete with the number of motorhomes, all owned by people with the same ideas...Let's go to Spain for the winter...

I do understand the no camping rule's and try to behave myself, but where dose camping stop and picnicking start I've seen plenty of car's pull up table chairs and cooker out even the odd pop up gazebo it's perhaps different as motorhomes or PVC we will stay the night that to me is more camping than just picnicking which we would do when travelling just a thought asking for a friend LOL 😆

But you haven't been to Spain in the Winter Geoff...
Therefore it wasn't aimed at you one bit....those I were referring to are the ones who come to Spain, and you will see this yourself when you come this winter, with fully loaded trailers or huge motorhomes with huge payloads full of provisions bought in their home country..most of it the same stock line as Lidl or Aldi in Spain, sit in a wild camping spot, and build themselves a little wall or garden, take water from play areas, showers etc...claim to spend as they do, in the Cheapest Chino possible....or replenish their beer stock with a slab of 0.35€ Finkbrau special...is that you Geoff? If so Welcome to Spain, you will fit in well...but equally so I expect you to appreciate what Spain has to offer, just as we have for 27 years...and play fair...
If you do you will have a great time....🇪🇦😄
We went for three months bough from local shops every day fresh produce.
use the local supermarket and village pubs restaurants
So was supportive of the local economy

I'm sure you do, as do others, but there are many who don't, as we live very close to some of the well established Coastal wild camping spots, and get well informed feedback about activities there, I can honestly say that there are so many doing Spain on the cheap.
For example, a piece of land owned by a local supermarket is used by a regular motorhoming community...there was a German guy who owned a car and did regular shopping trips back into the Lidl supermarket for his fellow countrymen...whilst still encamped on the small supermarket area..choosing not to shop local..
And of course the usual area in the centre of Murcia City next to IKEA, fancy doing a couple of months there, you get to know lots about Spain having a holiday in a Commercial Centre carpark...then why go...Because it costs nothing.

IKEA, I was taking a 5meter trailer with a 7meter van to below Murcia and considered IKEA as a place to stop overnight then I thought not for me I would sooner go to a lorry park.

And yet here I am parked in a supermarket carpark LOL 😆 🙃

But that how the Germans and Italians and Scandinavians do it us no more than a few day in one place

This is an official stop though isn't it? Admittedly looks like it's spread over to the car park.

You do seem to have a bee in your bonnet, you post on here about your stops which all seem free and you go to supermarkets not local shops so are you contributing to the problems you think you have but it's OK for you as you live in Spain?

We have done last 2 winters for 6 weeks and stayed an a variety of places (camp sites, car parks, beaches, camperstops/aires) some free some paid for but mostly free as we have limited income and like others try to put back into economy doing touristy things and buying in local shops or bars etc. We stop 4 nights at most but mostly 1 or 2.

Actually most of the actions I post about are to highlight the impact these will cause to the motorhoming community here in Spain..
We do one or two night stop in one place, Judith is currently in a local small supermarket.Im in the local launderette before going to the Local ironmonger to buy chain oil..
Bee in My bonnet, we I'm just saying the same as the Spanish motorhoming forums are, but do it on Fun so you all can understand the situation in your spoken language
Of course I speak as a Spanish resident, Spanish Tax payer, someone who has supported the Spanish economy over the past 27 years, with house purchases, numerous vehicle purchases, built and part owned a Spanish campsite and camper stop, been active in publishing tourism for our region.
Then we our community get abused by the winter visitors who take advantage of the Spanish hospitality..take what they can for free and leave until the next winter..
I believe I've got every right to defend our adopted country, if you don't, that your choice.

? Admittedly looks like it's spread over to the car park.
It spreads in to the car park adjacent, one behind and IKEA s over the road
You do seem to have a bee in your bonnet,
So would you if you are embarrassed to take the dog for a walk as when you park up you could be roped in if there is a clear out. So instead of being able to use adjacbeach parking I have to park three fields away in a side street.

That's how we tend to tour France and Spain, when travelling to and from our pre booked campsite destination. Any shopping and dining out tends to be done in Spain, which for us is more affordable.

Most if not all our stopovers are listed on S4S, and are usually official.

Re the IKEA Aire at Murcia, in January 2024 I was really quiet unwell for 3 - 4 days, and was grateful for that facility being available to us as I spent most of my time in bed. Rita who doesn't drive the MH, was able to get out and about, including to a Pharmacia, and there was a feeling of safety in numbers if she needed help of any kind. Also, Guardia patrols were regular daily.
Can you imagine the situation had we been stuck up a remote mountain location somewhere without services or amenities?
BTW, It's the French, Dutch, and Germans which take the urine at Murcia (and other locations too) with their camping behaviour. :( I am pleased to say that the Guardia are actively keen to discourage it. 👍 It's a shame they don't fine those taking the pi$$. The word would soon get around then. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

And Jock you didn't call me when you were unwell, we are only thirty minutes away....🤕😷

We obviously don't post about everywhere we shop. Not all the places we stop are free. We don't stop for more than a few days in one place.

So, no, we don't contribute to the problems that we see every winter in the Med, and in the north of Spain in summer. We didn't get moved off the area near Carnota two days ago because it was too busy for us last year so we didn't go this year to compound the problem.

We try to he responsible motorhomers. No camping behaviour. We do litter picks when necessary. Even this morning Martin borrowed my litter picker to fish three 1 litre empty bottles out of the black water dump that was beginning to get blocked. What sort of person opens a lid and throws them in when there's a litter bin right next to it? Maybe not motorhomers, but guess who'll get the blame 😡

And living in Spain has absolutely nothing to do with how we feel about some inconsiderate motorhomers/campervanners. We feel the same in any country we've visited.

Jock, so what do the Guardia do to 'discourage' it if they do not fine them?

Geoff
