Only since April 2024 (but caravanning since 2020)
From researching it looks like MaxxAir Fans fit into either 400x400 or 350x350 skylighs. The reviews are so good, I want one for our Chausson 630. But my only skylight is rectangular in the kitchen area. Or I'll need to have a hole cut in the washroom. That's a big step. Is there an alternative?

There were alternatives discussed in other threads - have a search, you might find a suitable one, there were a couple of alternatives suggested that performed very similarly..

I was thinking of putting in a Maxxfan

I was thinking of fitting a Maxxfan , but have instead have opted for this Titan fan which fits into the existing roof vent, above the fly screen.
Whichever I fitted I needed a power feed, but using the Titan meant I didn't need to remove the existing vent. It is slightly less than half the width of my 400x400 vent, so I could fit another and have the two side by side.
We haven't been away since I fitted it so it remains to be seen how effective it is, but if it's no good, I can remove it and fit it into the kitchen window to give extra ventilation while cooking.

If you want to rest the theory for about £30....

Can you existing skylight be cut bigger to accommodate a maxxfan…🤔

I assume it's already too big hence having to have another hole made elsewhere. The one I've linked to can be hung in a larger roof vent.

No smiffy, that's the problem. My existing skylight is too big for the MaxxAir or Airplus fans as Minky says.

You're right Minxy, the existing skylight would need to be made smaller. The flexibility of the Fiamma version is useful and would work, also leaving some space. An interesting concept of reversing polarity to change the direction of airflow! Who would have thought?🤭☺️ Thanks for the feedback.

Metal roof?

Have it welded shut, then cut a hole in it :D

alternatively, you could get a piece of UV resistant plastic, or some aluminium or similar and make up an adaptor plate.

Probably wouldn't be pretty, but you're not going to see it often (unless you park your van right below your home office window like I do....)

Will do. I should have done that in the beginning.🙄 Many thanks for responding.

I had thought about an adaptor solution, but as you say won't be pretty. I've asked for a price to cut a new hole and fit in the rear washroom. Otherwise something like the Fiamma with expanding frame seems to be the answer. Appreciate the feedback.

Just fitted the Maxxfan deluxe this weekend in my Mobilvetta. Straight swap size wise when removing the inside frame of the original skylight I could see the conduit where the 12v supply should be.
Removed the skylight and discovered the conduit did not have the required wiring.
Took an hour to remove various cupboard parts to find a switched 12v supply.
Easy to fit the fan and the additional seal, wired up and works a treat.
