Stewards have gone out!

There's definitely one place and there's another field with a few spaces but I'm not sure about those.

There isn't a phone number. Steward did mention a FB page?

I think There's an aire in Grosmont/Goathland...

I like them both. Set up for tourers as opposed to ghastly holiday parks. Both have sites in great locations - both remote from towns, and in walking distance of towns. Always seem to meet great people at both .

People have habit of peppering their posts with indecipherable acronyms. That is fine when the thread is on some esoteric minutiae populated only by those that have been on this site for years. But do have a care for newbies. The OP is a newbie asking a newbie question!!

OP?

If your an old, solo Funsters, CCC with it's OAP discount and THS's is definitely cheaper than C&MHC although in the past 12 months C&MHC have started to adopt some of CCC practices

Facilities are very similar and sites are sometimes nextdoor to each other.

I belong to both but rarely use C&MHC's actual, official, sites.

With our 1st MH nearly 20 years ago, we tried to join the Caravan Club (Now CAMC) and use a drive away awning, no way Jose, so we joined the Caravan & Camping Club. Only for 2 years until we found independent sites and aires in Europe.

We then bought a caravan and joined the CAMC. Over time the site fees were too expensive, but the CL network was fab and got our cash.

We then returned to a MH and have joined the C&CC primarily for the THS. Not used a site yet, but will in October when we visit Jockland as £10 a night with facilities and laundry seems reasonable value. That is with the over 60s discount.

Our view is the CAMC have no understanding of the needs and wants of a MH user, the fees are ridiculous.

As an example Karina & Jules of How we Tow have just paid £60 per night on a grass pitch at Porth in Cornwall. The C&CC held a THS there recently at £14 per night.

If you are self sufficient power wise and can cut the orange umbilical cable C&CC is a no brainer if you wish to join a club.

As I have now just reached the age of 60 🥳🥳
How do you get the over 60’s discount with the CCC ? Is it automatic or do you apply for a discount card ?

They can afford it as sponsored by coachman and as members of caravan writers guild will enjoy added benefits.

The next time you book online book zero adults and ACR will be automatically populated with 1, when you get on site show them proof of your age and they will update your account so you won't have to show proof again, if any adults travelling with you are under 60 then obviously book 1 adult 1 ACR.

We’re members of the cmc and thinking of joining the ccc for the THS now we’re retired, I’ve tried downloading the app but have to be a member. Is there anyone who could give us a rough idea of how many THS they have and where? I know it’s a big ask but no point joining if they’re all down south.

CMC ,, In my opinion , best by far.. top quality sites ...not the cheapest but you get what you pay for .. been on many and love them.. nice large pitches, well organised and top quality showers and toilets ..

CMC also the most CLs.. around 2,000 to chose from, for as little as a fiver .. but generally around £12 - £15 if they offer EHU

Our go-to local CL for a weekend is £5 per night .. between Lowestoft and Yarmouth .. very quiet and peaceful .. basic facilities.. lovely lady who runs it ..
Another cheap one is near Bath , just off the M44 .. we use it en route to South Wales or West Country ..

CCC ... tried them years ago when joined to get the RAC breakdown cover for my RV .. but sites were not our cup of tea..

We had to contact the club to get our membership updated to over the hill.
Once that's done when you check bookings online it should apply automatically at the checkout..
A phone call to head office C&CC worked best for us.

A C&MHC (old Caravan Club) CL for a fiver or even one with EHU for £12-15.

Can you PM the address of the of the £5 one between Yarmouth and Lowestoft as, in my experience, those prices, even for a VERY basic site, stopped before COVID?

Is that £5 (£12-£15) per unit or person🤔

A lot of CL/CS ramped up their prices during Covid and the stayed high, treating the MH people as cash cows.
We've had to work hard in Cornwall on this trip to get ours for £20-25 and that is with out an EHU. Add more for a EHU.....
C&CC THS have not lost their camping values...

If you want to use sites of either organisation, even for a short time, then join, as the membership savings will be worth it. We saved the equivalent of our membership on one trip with CAMC, compared to booking as a non member.

We belong to both. Caravan and Motorhome Club so that we can use their CLs. We have been to some amazing CLs. Camping and Caravan Club so that we can take advantage of their discounts (mid-week and over 60s). In our view CMC club sites are very pricey, we often stay at the New Forest and there are 3 amazing CLs that we use there. CCC sites are more reasonable with the discounts and we have found them to be friendlier, they also have the Certified Sites and some of these are really good. The Sandringham CCC site is amazing.
