Hi
Can anyone explain the differences between these two vans that explains the 10k difference in price.
Autotrail apache 700 and the Tribute 736 both look similar, yes small differences but not huge
the OTR price is £55,085 vs £42,701 even taken into account the Drivers pack on 736 its a hell of a difference for 2 vans from same factory and same company.
Cannot work out what I a missing
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Cheers

All I can contribute is we had a new 2014 Tribute and in less than 3 months the floor delaminated.
Although I would assume the same flooring would be used for Tribute and Autotrails!!!
One of the reasons we've gone for a German van. (y)

Surely the dealer (s) can answer this for you... should be interesting
Yup I was at a dealer today and he had autotrail never noticed till come home may go back down. However both are supposed to be at NEC end of Feb so gonna ask then also. Yes Tribute looks slightly less specd smaller oven, smaller worksurfaces etc but I cannot see where the price difference between the 2 is, a few k yes but not 10k. We will see

Since 1996, had Elddis/Swift/Rapido/Rimor/Chausson MHs. Autocruise/Globecar PVCs/Compactline i-138
The price is down to what base vehicle they're on and what spec they have, think of Swift and Bessecarr, sometimes the MHs are virtually identical but the latter will have more bits and bobs/a higher spec etc.

Just had a shuftie and the payload on the Tribute is abysmal!

Tribute: this appears to be on the standard LWB chassis as it comes as standard with 15" wheels and a MTPLM of 3500kg but can be uprated FOC to 3650kg, the existing MIRO is 3120kg giving a payload of 380kg / 350kg respectively, no where near enough for a large family MH even once uprated.

Apache: this is on the heavy LWB chassis as it comes with 16" wheels and is plated at 4250kg which it needs as the MIRO is 3425kg which would only give 75kg payload if it was plated at 3500kg! It therefore has a payload of 825kg which is more than adequate.

For both though if you need the extra payload you need to have the correct driving licence categories and be aware that going over 3500kg will have speed restrictions abroad and may prevent you from going into certain places which ban vehicles over this weight.

Just noticed the MTLPM myself and spent more time researching you are correct must manufacturers have budget ranges in swift bailey autotrail etc.
What still amazes me is circ 10k difference between them. I know I am new to all this but seems a wide gap ok specs and trims are different and I suppose u pay for what you get. But I would have though the basis chassis / model would be the same like on a car. Clearly not. The weights do worry me as it looks way to easy to overload a 3500kg.
Looking for a new mh ain't going be easy but it sure will be fun

Jagtazman, you've now reached the limit of your 'free' posts so if you want to ask any more questions etc you'll need to subscribe.

Personally I'd be looking for a good secondhand MH as there are lots out there without the massive depreciation buying a new one brings.

Not decided on new or second hand its like buying a car when you look for one you look at new ones, decide what you want then check the spec and what’s about second hand, re check spec and make a decision on price condition etc.

Haven't seen massive depreciation like you see on cars unless I am looking in wrong places from what I see 2nd hand ones hold their value the depreciation is in first few years but not a much as I was expecting. However if you are buying new with a warranty etc, then when all is equal one some models are not alot of difference.

We are def not looking to purchase this year and may not be 2017 so looking at new ones now will be 2nd hand when we purchase (if we decide not to purchase new)

We have no ruled out a 10-15 year old MH either all options are wide open atm.

Atm we are looking at a lounge end and have a short list of new models:-

Bessacarr 496

Autotrail Apache 700

Bailey Autograph 765

Tribute 736 (not seen yet)

Bailey Advance 665 (not seen yet)

Swift Escape 686 (not seen yet)

After more research weve decided rear lounge is not for us, went to NEC yesterday and now looking at bunks or singles. TBH no alot of choice for families with teenagers especially if like us you want a L shaped lounger with swivel cabs, most are dinnettes, but we have narrowed down to 4/5 new ones, even thou I still think will go second hand, however if buy second and change in say 4-5 years time the new ones now which are above our pinch point will be affordable then so worth looking at and planning ahead

Nice Minxy that one is sold any idea how much it was?
No sorry, I just remembered the layouts as we were at the Dusseldorft show when they were being promoted back in 2005 I think! Some only have a single bunk (504) others have 2 bunks (524 ... not all of them though - the bottom one can be changed to a small garage)

There's a 524 here with rear bunks for what seems to me like a very good price and not that far from you:
