Yuki yesterday decided he would argue with a Police car, well not actually we were leaving the house to take him on an afternoon walk.
Me stood by the front door, dog by my side, harness on,lead on and then need 2 hands to lock the door i put the short lead on his back as per normal and lock the door.
In a flash dog sees CAT over the road and with the terminal velocity of a ROCKET is gone.
We have a decent length drive before the estate road normally very quite begins, not this time, said police car travelling to the end of the estate and Yuki meet I scream, dog screams!!!!

So now poor Yuki is in hospitable(Vets) with a broken, in 2 places hind leg,and severe lacerations.
We are all in shock and badly shaken up over the incident.
Hang-in there YUKI we need you home.

Oh hell, how awful!
Hoping Yuki gets better quickly - dogs are very resilient - but what a shock for all of you!
Hugs to all, I expect he'll be back home soon and looked after like a prince.

On and off for many years.
What an awful thing to happen. I hope Yuki is home with you soon and no worse for his ordeal.

I blame the cat.

Happens so easily - I've had similar situations (near misses) in the past but fortunately been lucky.

Best wishes for Yuki.

Oh my God poor dog and poor you. Every owners nightmare.
I don't know how easy your dog is to train but I've always taught a dog to freeze on the spot with either Stay, Wait, Stop, whatever word you want.
Years ago my dog saw something, haired towards road and a yell stopped her in her tracks.
Because of the danger from Cypriot drivers when Cass was a pup the word car makes her sit, even now.

I hope Yuki makes a fast recovery.
