Only if you’re storing the van and not going to use the fridge. We found the fridge won’t work with the covers in place, can’t dump the heat.
Thanks for telling me that. I'll be in the van so using it.

I use the covers in the winter and when washing the van.
I'm away in my van with them on now and my fridge works fine.
There are upper and lower vent covers.
The lower vent cover is a blanking plate like in your link but the upper cover is different and doesn't completely blank off the upper vent allowing the fridge to work better in the cold.

Nonna this is an upper fridge vent winter cover.
As you can see from the picture it doesn't blank the right hand side of the upper vent allowing the fridge to still work.
They reduce the amount of gas used.

Yes, the fridge will work better in cold weather but don't fit the top one when running on gas.
Not disputing what you say but what is the reason for not fitting the top vent cover when running on gas ?
My top vent cover still allows the fridge to work I thought.

I think I'd have to use 2x L300.

The type of vent in your photo is not used any more.
The modern way the flue just vents behind the grill so if you leave the top vent in when running on gas the cover gets very hot and the plastic goes soft.

I have these vents on my 3-way fridge. Am I supposed to put vent covers on for the winter, please? We've owned the MH for 2 years now and haven't used vent covers up to now but wondering if we should. For the most part, it'll be stood outside but we also might go away in it in December....possibly to Spain. Thank you any advice.

We parked up during the weekend storm with the wind blowing directly off the sea at the back of the van where the vents are located, it was bonkers windy. On EHU, our fridge would not stay cold although the freezer box was very cold. As a temporary measure I stuck some foil over both vents and things did improve in the fridge. The Previous week it worked extremely well in much calmer weather, so much so I had to turn the fridge way down as it was too cold. Will be sourcing some winter covers for ours.

I bought just the one for the bottom as off grid almost all the time therefore on gas, so only use the bottom one under 8 degrees.

Been moho’ing for a time now
I made mine (top and bottom) from some clear plastic sheet I had, and use double sided tape to keep them on, works well (y)

Doesn't that depend on the type of Vent. Ours is the same as the OP with an operate flue/vent for gas to the right of the vent. The cover does not cover this area.

No, mine has no flue/vent it's just large grills. I think headlight had the one you're thinking of

I was considering that option. The bottom grill houses the pilot light.
The other plus sides to just one would be price & no need for scaffolding to get me up to the top one ;)

Possibly but as said, I've the same one that the OP is on about.

My 10 year old Dometic RMS8555's manual says I should put on the vent covers. I don't know what recent fridge model manuals say.

My vent covers, "Maintain performance when temperature falls below +10C, long term periods, and to avoid snow & leaves."

I've sometimes put on the vents when washing the van to keep out the water, and lately because of the heavy rain, puddles, road spray.

I put the vents on last weekend they will still there until the end February.

The manual on ours says below 8DegC, but taking in to account wind direction and rain, it could be potentially much colder than the ambient. I'll be installing some when I next get to the MH even though predicted temperatures across the UK are still double figures during the day.

I put my vent covers on for my trip last weekend as where I was going was forecast 5c overnight and very strong winds.
I will leave them on till March, wash the van then take them off.

Don't leave them on when driving they tend to go AWOL, I lost one just parked on the drive in strong winds. Don't normally park that way round on the drive normally the fridge is on the leeward side, if I do park the other way round I don't fit them.
