How about a van dealer??

No you cannot buy a brand new van and not pay VAT (otherwise everyone would be driving round in a brand new van wouldnt they:Eeek:) unless your registered disabled and the van is converted for disabled use.

Almost any dealer will take the Motor Home in PX
Unfortunately you will not be offered Motor Home value
As they do not deal in Motor homes they will more than likely us a trade underwriter to get a value on yours, and that will be an unseen offer to buy, so less than bottom book:Doh:
Far better to sell private and then buy your van:thumb:
If it has a chunk on finance on it, be up front and work the settlement into the deal

creativeglenn may have been confused with the old "special car tax" that applied to cars but not vans or pickups. All vehicles were and are subject to VAT (like virtually all goods and services) so, unless you are a special case such as pointed out by dazzer, you will pay VAT like everyone else! The special car tax was dropped several years ago, so all vehicles are taxed on the same basis.

The question of trading a MH for a Van is rather like asking if a car dealer would accept a motor bike against a car or if a MH dealer would accept a TV against a MH.

Specialists are just that, usually. So sell the MH privately and then go shopping with cash.

Why not find a good management company, hire out your motorhome through them, earn yourself the money for the new panel van that way - and still have something you can go away in?

Plenty of companies out there that will do it on their insurance, at their risk - just ask all the questions to get a good one!

Don't know what van you have or are after.

But RoyWoodTransits are, mainly, ford transit van specialists, and also do motorhome/van conversions and do take MH in PX on their vans. www.roywoodtransits.com

If they can't sell your van then they know others who can give a value as they deal with mh px's fairly frequently.

Gut feel says you'll get a poor price as mh tradeins are generally low, but give them a bell and they'll be as fair as anyone.
