What's of interest around this route (Suffolk content) (1 Viewer)

Heading to Aldeburgh from St Neots. Just wondering what might be worth stopping at and any suggested overnight stops (cheap or free) Just 2days/nights to fill. Not necessarily on the A14 of course! Happy to a little north or south of it.

Not much close to the A14 but plenty when you get towards the coast the area marked Suffolk coast & heaths AONB is excellent walking area, Southwold, Walberswick, can often park up towards the lifeboat station at Southwold, Rendlesham forest for peace and quiet and parking out of the way, Suttton Hoo if you like history, Ramsholt Arms for a vie across the River and a pint.
Felixstowe park up at the viewing point next to container port good Museum and fort etc.

Mildenhall airbase, Bressingham Steam Museum. They used to allow overnight but that may have changed. Cut north to Banham zoo which has its own cap site. Applegate or Apple tree I think. NT at Sutton Hoo is worth a visit if you have never been.

Used Bury St Edmunds (Ram Meadow car park) many times, 4 motorhome specific slots, £3 all day and £1.50 overnight until 0800hrs. Bury a nice town to visit...

Located in the city center. Pitches reserved for 4 motorhomes, 5 minutes walk from the cathedral. Entrance is on the left (no height barriers) before the main car park (which has height barriers) Water tap is on the Gents side of the public toilets.

...also Thaxted, just Southeast of Saffron Walden, 2 moho specific places in Margarets St car park, free, public toilets but don't use to empty your loo....

Bennetts Arms, free pub stopover just outside BSE ......

Popped into BSE this afternoon but as luck would have it the motorhome area was closed for resurfacing . Found a on street parking for free nearby so did a very pleasant wander of the town, abbey and cathedral.

Found a free night stop at Maglia Rosso cycle shop and cafe 5 miles south of BSE, just need to purchase something in the cafe in the morning.

Very nice quiet country spot with a few glamping pods and fresh water.
