I have had to throw away my much loved suitcase gas ring which was a cheaply bought many years ago but today decided it had had enough and caught fire! Would like to replace it with something similar as it is very convenient to pack and to use when away in van. Suggestions please.

As above, shouldn't cost more than £10, have a look at the websites for B&M, The Range etc to see what they do.

Yes this is what mine was, just wondered if there was a safer version after it catching fire. Mind you it was well used.

Why/how did it catch fire?

Think perhaps a washer had hardened as it burst into flames through the lid where the canister connects. Managed to put out with fire extinguisher before brand new canister exploded - very frightening but lesson learned and need to replace the stove earlier!

I don’t use bbq due to the weight and storage issue so the small suitcase stove was perfect. Think I definitely used it past its sell by date! Your suggestion looks good but probably larger and heavier.

Been getting away since 2008
Campingaz I found to be the best when I was looking. It was €40 in Germany but it is stainless steel. There were ones for €10-20 but were crap tbf. I suppose it depends what you want to spend.
I always try and buy once so leave the cheap stuff on the shelf.
If I can’t afford something, I’ll wait until I can rather than buy inferior products.
