I have a 2016 registered Bailey ,am I right in thinking that although it's a Peugeot the engine is in fact a Ford .I was recently talking to someone on a site and they said it was a Peugeot engine ,I've looked in the handbook but it's no help at all .

Almost certainly the Ford 2.2 Puma ( Duratorq ) engine, unless they have started using the PSA 2.2, which is a Peugeot / Citroen / Ford homologation.

Remember the only Peugeot parts of your van are the badges.

Yes, Peugeot and Ford have a 'deal' on engines and so do many other vehicle assemblers. I believe that all the 'Ford' 1.6hdi's are actually Peugeots. There are not many engine manufacturing plants in the world. I think I am right in saying that even BMW have an engine plant at Longbridge. That town name rings a bell....British Leyland?

not really surprising as bmw sold austin d.sevens as the bmw dixie way back before the war and signed an agreement that allowed them to take over the company . mind bmw,s were made at eisenach in the wartburg factory. in 1928 that was.
bmw had a hold on austin and later british leyland . i have actually seen the contract . it amazed me . mind that was in 999 it really was amazing to see the original contract at the wartburg museum .

Most parts for the group are Sevel sourced and common to Fiat Peugeot & Citroen

If it is a 2.2 Puma then what year is it?
If it is prior to 2012 then check with a main dealer that it has had the pcm up date done
Mine hadn't and it's about to cost me around 11000€ for a new engine

Your issue seems extremely rare, I've only found a few other cases out of millions of engines in service, I'm sure a new / recon' engine would be much cheaper than that in the U.K. - sorry it's not much help I know.

Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
As a 2016 it will actually have a timing belt, a wet belt system at that. Just keep belt services up to speed & you'll have nothing to worry about. Oh by the way the french software is rather strangely more reliable.

2.2 Ford engine, Fiat body, Peugeot badge. Despite much snobbery on other brands you really can't beat this van.
