We are going to spend five days in France leaving Saturday morning. We're not thinking of going too far but wondered if any of you could let us know your thoughts on the following aires. They are in the All the Aires in France book. Thanks.

Embry is rather like finding a UK CL, lovely lady owner comes round for bread orders in evening, but just as well there is absolutely nothing in the village at all to buy from, quite odd for the size, no shops at all not even a bar

we had one night there last year, it has a very steep entrance, if long, or with long overhang you will ground unless you have adjustable air suspension

We have a Majestic 175 which is 7.2 meters long. I would say we had a long overhang so perhaps Embry isn't for us. It did look lovely. I'll have a look at camper contact for more info. I also like personal opinions as well. Thanks

Stayed at the Neufchâtel en bray aire in November. Excellent aire with all facilities well kept and very clean and within few minutes walk of shops/supermarket.

Neufchattel en Bray was the first Aire we ever stayed on. It is more like a campsite in some respects than a typical Aire. You get a nice "pitch" with a hedge round it and with both hardstanding and grass. All pitches have electrics. It is very close to the town with supermarkets, restaurants etc. It costs 12 Euros

Mesnieres en Braye is only 3 or 4 miles away from Neufchattel, but is very different, or was when we were there a year or two ago. Just a parking area with no marked out bays and rudimentary water and dump but it is free. Not much around it, but it was quiet. At least it was until an idiot Frenchman in a 9m motorhome with a large trailer spent about an hour trying to get into the place next to us. He just did not know how to reverse but was determined to practice it whilst next to my motorhome. At one point he was within an inch or two of hitting us.

I would recommend La Mailleraye sur Seine (Camperstop no 3448). Right on the Seine and you can sit and watch the ships go by. Nice little village with shops and restaurant. We arrived for one night last September and ended up staying for 3.
Probably our favourite aire.
If it was further south in warmer climes it would be just perfect.
The aire now has barrier entry that takes credit cards. There is an English language option and the whole process is very straightforward and easy to use.
Still need a €3 jetton from the village for water.

Richard.

Embry is a lovely Aire as described above. There is a danger of grounding if you take the direct route to it from the D108 but if you drive past with the entrance on your right, down into the village you can drive round the village "Square", past the lovely church, and regain the D108 going in the opposite direction and access to the Aire, now on your left, is no problem.
Really quiet and away from it all.

I think it is about €6 for the night then extra for EHU & Elsan on the Flot Bleu token system. The owner collects pitch fees about 7pm and takes orders for morning bread if you want it. You can buy tokens from a machine on site. There are showers (via token) as well as hot water and toilets (free) on site.

Stayed at Rugles a few times. The original Bourne and associated Parking Slots are in the corner of first Car park. On our last trip we found they have added a new Bourne with 4 Electric in the next Car park about 50mtrs further on. Last time we stopped there all the Electric Points were taken but within about 10 minutes the Frenchman next to us came over and offered his connection and then linked into his friends connection with a splitter. The Aire is next to a nice small park and a short walk past the church to the village high street. We could not get a 3 Mifi connection but got a Wifi connection using Fon.

Well we stayed overnight at Neufchâtel en Brey and it was a 10/10 for us. 12€ for 24 hours including electric, shower 2€ and there's toilets washing machine and tumble dryer there as well. Supermarkets are within walking distance. Our plan was to go to Mailleraye sur Seine next as recommended on here. Unfortunately it was closed from 8pm last night until 8pm tonight as there's a massive and I mean MASSIVE market and car boot which stretches along the river bank. We were told that it wasn't open, by a policeman who pointed left just to keep the traffic moving. A couple of hundred yards along the road was a little site for motor homes called Camping Le Parc. We went in and found a numbered pitch most pitches are hedged and plenty of room for the awning etc. We can see the river with boats going up and down, through the trees. It's got electric if you want it. A man calls round at 7pm to collect 6€ for the night. We walked along the river bank and walked through the aire. It looks absolutely gorgeous what a shame we missed it. There's a barrier there but couldn't see how much it would have cost. Going to have a look later to see where we fancy going tomorrow. This is the life!!

We tried like you to get in today but were turned away. Instead we went to a little aire at St Nicholas, about 4 miles downstream. Free, right on the river but the water and waste do not work.
