We put the offer in in April and that was followed by lots of negotiations. Then some re-negotiations, in our favourt. Lots of legal stuff and the usual slow Spanish ways.
But yesterday we went to Notary and paid for it <Broken link removed>
It was a surreal experience. The translator went through the Escritura (contract) with us to explain it all, then we went into the notary office. With the vendor's lawyer (with POA), the estate agent, our lawyer and the translator. And the Caixa bank manager
The notary dude then read through the paperwork then checked EVERYONE's passport. Then our lawyer handed a large cheque to the bank manager to pay off the mortgage and he left straight away
Then a cheque to vendor's lawyer and a rather big one to the estate agent <Broken link removed>
Then I called my bank to arrange the balance from my UK a/c to his UK a/c.
When we got back to the house it was a bit strange as we've been living here 4 months. But it soon dawned on us what we now had <Broken link removed>
It's on 3 floors. The top floor is a large bedroom suite with kitchen/diner and lounge and big balcony. The basement is huge and for friends and family to use when they visit
And we're gonna holiday-let the basement if any of you fancy a holiday
