Coming back from Peterborough I noticed a problem with the offside rear brake binding. Managed to book it into local garage last Friday. They rang quite quickly to inform me that the handbrake cable on that side had seized. Emailed AL-KO with chassis number etclate on Friday. Early Monday morning (yesterday) I had an email back from Jane giving me the part number of the cable that I needed and a name and phone number ofa supplier. Rang them straight away but they couldn't supply me as they were trade suppliers but they in turn gave me the name and number of their retail outlet, Outdoor Bits (0845 8698940) in Exmouth. Ordered it there and then and it turned up early afternoon today. Excellent service from all concerned.

Now for the downside, the cable which is about 3metres long and has two loose outer sleeves was £118 with postage!

Oh well glad you got it fixed, Alko and land Rover parts are probably more costly that the equivalent in gold :(

A real shame it had to go through a middleman getting money for nothing :(
A three tier profit system is appalling in this day and age and I'm sure Outdoor bits never even saw the part involved.

Outdoor Bits actually had 2 in stock and the paperwork was from them. The middleman had 1 in stock.

At least the end result is what you wanted.
It might not be the cheapest way of doing things but in this case at least seems to be efficient.
