started when I was 11 with my parents-forgot to stop!been real one since 1980!
I don't know if this has been discussed before,but I found this on an American site.
It uses a childs beach bucket or you could used a poundshop one. Additionally a plastic 'tupperware' type box could be used.

The problem with anything of this type is that any water that does find its way in cannot drain. A small amount will cause substantial condensation; a larger amount will cover the plug / socket. The plug socket is already up to IP44 protection and, provided it is not submerged in water, can be left out in the weather. If there is any danger of a pool of water forming where it is positioned lifting it clear of the ground should be enough. See:

Long term a few years now.
Better off with a bucket of some sort over the top with a brick holding it down in the wind . Thats what i was informed to do by a caravan and camping club owner , he is probably right if no flood i did smile though
