On our way to a tunnel crossing for 20 days in Italy and the tec tower fridge door has just fallen off in my hands... It swung open on a roundabout (probably my fault for overloading the door with fizz) and when I went to shut it, it kinda fell off!

We've taken the freezer door off and put the fridge door back on but can't work out to get both on.

Any ideals? I'll try and take pics when we stop but racing to make our crossing now.

I think there's another ratings button we need.

Thanks I've had a quick skim through and there are no door or hinge diagrams

On our Tec Tower it looks like the bottom hinge pin is threaded

So may need screwing up to locate into the bottom of the door - otherwise no visible form of adjustment

Best of luck !

@DavidG58 @Terry @Techno

David, didn't your fridge door fall off or am I imagining that?

Terry have you ever fixed one?

Andy, I remember you having fridge issues but don't know if you can help?

Thats a pest, cant help without seeing it but most fridge doors are reversible so just a case of figuring out how the hinges are attached. Hope you get it sorted.

Always carry Gaffa Tape - it will get your door held shut till you get somewhere where you have time to work on it.

Worry not fellow Funsters all sorted. We unscrewed the hinge, removed both fridge and freezer doors and somehow wrangling and swearing got them back on and hinge screwed down.
So relieved as I'm anticipating eating loads of Italian ice cream

Thanks as ever for all your help.

But do you know why it fell off? Did something unscrew itself or did the door bend with the weight of the fizz? If the latter, reduce the load by drinking some of the fizz. :)

Spot on. Think it was a combination of too much fizz and a very bumpy Road.

Nooooo you have got it all wrong! You don't buy gelato to stick in the freezer - you eat it in the Gelateria in Bardolino, ice cream in one hand, cocktail in the other.... (y) or you eat it wandering around any beautiful cobbled street in Garda, Sermioni, Lasize, Peschiera...... and don't forget to break the end of the cone off and fill it with gelato for Little Miss M .....

Hi @Mousy apologies if you already know this but on our tech tower you can have the fridge door in a locked /unlocked mode ... in locked mode you need to press the buttons on the top of the door down to open it, this would hopefully stop it being able to just swing open. Sorry I don't know if yours is same model.

Glad you are sorted Dawn, yes ours did indeed make a bid for freedom, we forgot to lock the door and being a 'stupid' design the hinges were and still are to the front of the MH, so door full of milk beer etc it came open and then kept going, landed on Lola and ended up in between the front seats and we were still on the CL!!

Yes @Terry sorted ours, I had even bought a new fridge, but bought wrong one, Terry managed a very acceptable fix on our door 2 years ago, still going strong

Enjoy the ice cream :)(y)

Our tec tower doesn't appear to have a lock, it is a 2016 model. If it does could someone tell me where?

I will have a look tomorrow, never locked the fridge as I didnt know it was there (n)

luckily for you Dometic do at least seem to learn from their own stupid designs, the new button on top forms a self lock, ie once shut it is locked, unlike the nonsense we have taken ownership of o_Oo_O

don't ask just be grateful you didn't buy new 5 years ago :)(y)
