Have decided to give up the scooter, age related and now considering a tow car. Have looked across all the various websites offering cars / A frames etc and tbh am a tad bewildered in the varied choice, hence the posting.
There are only the two of us plus dog so seating, 2 door, 4 door isnt an issue but I would use the car as a 2nd vehicle at home.
Those of you who tow can you offer any suggestions / recommendations for the best type of tow car and what type of tow facility is the selected choice of the many and varied available.
I am aware of the 'reversing' debate but wondered if there are any other operating issues that occur?
Thanks
Ian

A frame is the simple answer make sure you opt for a light weight frame as some of the older type Towtal/Caratow are a ton weight but work ok and are the cheapest to buy.

Take a look on ebay.

We A frame a Peugeot 107 with no problems at all, we did have a 2007 2 door version which was £20 per year to tax and had no opening back windows but have now changed to a 2013 4 door version which is zero tax and has tinted rear windows and opening rear windows, so better for our dog and the car does between 55 and 60 per gallon.
Our A frame is a Chris Cox one with over run brakes, as you say the only problem is the reversing.
We did take ours to France earlier this year as we were house sitting for 2 1/2 months with no problem but if just touring using Aires we don't take the car.

Meant to say we are looking to change from Smart on trailer to Mazda 2 on A frame, the new small engined petrol version of the Mazda 2 is just over 1050kgs with driver and comes with a reasonable spec for use as a main car doing local journeys.

We have our 3rd. Kia Picanto in 5 years with tow system from towbars2towcars brilliant car and system.
Not the cheapest tow but works, is light and reliable.
All our Picantos have been on a pcp scheme - we now pay £214 per month for almost top of the range with 16k miles.
My Kia garage always come up with a good new deal before the original has finished.

We had a Kia Picanto and were happy with it behind the motorhome. Changed it last year for a Fiat Qubo, as it doubles up very well for many other things at home. The rear seats are easy to fold down, making a huge space for large items in the back (i.e. 2 labradors), now unfortunately down to one, sliding side doors which are a bonus in tight spaces. Great for going about when we are on extended breaks and don't want to move the motorhome all the while. Looked at the ongoing debate re A Frames and decided that Car-a-Tow were the company for us. Their frame is light enough and with the addition of a jockey wheel, is easy to move about, wheelbarrow style. Easy to hitch up, too, as you can drive the car up to the tow ball with the A frame on and see it in front of you.
