we are off to France (Provence, Saumur, etc) in September and October and plan to use a mix of Aires, France Passion and ACSI campsites. Would Funstersrecommend booking the latter or just turning up?
Cheers

In September & October I would just turn up - never had a problem in September when we've gone over.

I agree just turn up. Unlikely to be full that time of year. Booking also makes it difficult to change plans, if you have any.:D

Check that the campsites are open before you head to them as a lot of them shut in September, just check the dates in the ACSI book to avoid a wasted trip.

As said.. many sites close at the end of August.. The French holiday season is much shorter than ours.. those that are open won't need booking..

Airs will be no problem.. but try to arrive mid afternoon.. even in Sep - Oct , popular ones fill up by early evening

A phone call when on the way, as last year 2 closed early because of no customers, so we had to find others.

We have the ACSI app and Aires book. We book up chunnel with rough plan and must see list .... We never stick to :D Never had trouble staying wherever. Each campsite or aire is v different. That's what I love about roaming. We have 4 mire days left but are back 3 was in sept. If you want flexibility and spontaneity, don't book.

Outside of July and August we never bother booking, we rarely know where we are going anyway!
