Hello......

Total beginners to motorhomeing we are due to collect our first motorhome in Germany at the end of March & with our first journey being the 1000 mile (or should that be 1,600km?) journey home it's fingers crossed that all goes well.

I look forward to learning a lot from all the experienced forum members hear.

Sensible boy buying a German van, please tell us what it is.
Did you manage to get full insurance or are you risking bringing it on 3rd party?

Our search started out last year at the Dusseldorf show, we went with the idea that what we wanted was a motorhome with a rear living area and so limited our search to that, which narrowed the field consierbly!

On reflection we decided that a fixed bed was more important, and further narrowed that to an island bed, again very limiting.

We finally settled in a LHD Hymer Exsis I 598 and ordered it at the Stuttgart show in January, being lucky to find a Germsn dealer that had one in order for March delivery that we could still specify

Regarding insurance I called around many brokers without much luck until I hit on who assure me that they can do fully comprehensive insurance based solely on the vehicles VIN number

(If its not allowed to post links in posts, then I apologies and can someone let me know)

Hi Alistair 33 welcome to fun, we are also having a new German van mid March, a Globecar Campscout we're downsizing slightly from a Coach built Aoto Sleeper.
