We stayed at Start Bay Caravan Club site for 3 nights over Easter weekend. The Wardens were the most helpful we have ever encountered in our 15 years of using Caravan Club Sites. I phoned to book as length is 31ft 6" and therefore unable to book on caravan club website, the Wardens reserved our pitch, met us at the gate and walked us in the wrong way round the one way system to ease access to our pitch. This was our first time out in RV as we have been caravaners before and the wardens, couple in the holiday rambler on next pitch and great weather made this a fantastic first time out.

You have now seriously interested us - we used to be Wardens at Start Bay, Kingsbridge back in 1990 and we did not think (from memory) that you could get an RV along the road to Start Bay due to the narrow road.

You obviously got your Damon there - what time of day did you get there, was there much traffic - did you have to use passing places to let traffic past you?

At 32ft do you reckon a longer RV (36ft) couild get in there?

Finally did you go to the fish restaurant on Slapton Sands - it used to be absolutely fabulous for quality of fish - wonder if it is still as good?

Dick - from the Big Pitch Guide.

We travelled to Start Bay on Good Friday arriving on site at around 5pm. The traffic was heavy as you would expect on bank holiday in this part of the country. There is only one place between Kingsbridge and site to allow traffic to pass.

The couple on the next pitch to us had a Holiday Rambler which was either 36 or 38 foot and they used the same route in as us - the one stated in the caravan club book.

We went to the Start Bay Inn at lunchtime on Easter Sunday and had a fantastic fish platter which was excellent value.:thumb:
