we like the Swift Bolero at £ 41k 2012 reg Fiat Ducato base vehicle and the Rapido 986 at £30k 2006 Reg, Mercedes base. Layout is very similar. Purely from the overall quality of vehicle, which would you choose?

Getting Better
Well I'm biased of course, and you could save yourself 11k, now that will get you a lot of toys to put in it And running costs for quite a while...:xThumb:

Being a bit of a Swift fan, having owned a 2009 Bessacarr E769 (Swift) since it was 3 months old and a new 2012 Bolero, both on the Fiat Ducato platform, I would definitely go for the Rapido on the Mercedes platform x:-)

Bet you weren't expecting that :xrofl:

Watch the payload on the Rapido, they are famous for low payloads.

Rapido

IMHO a better van, less to lose in depreciation and a lot of travelling fun on the balancing £11k!

I know it's not in the question, but if I were going for the Rapido I'd want to make sure it had a good Dealer warranty (10 years old) not Private or from Mr Daley ;)

What's the mileage on each vehicle?

Having bought a 2006 Fiat based Autotrail and then upgrading to a 2010 Fiat based Autotrail I would consider the performance of the base chasis is WAY WAY better. I don't know what the Merc 2006 has over the Fiat 2012 but knowing what I have purchased I would rely a lot on the performance of the base chasis as well as the build quality of the coach.
Its not as fun driving a vehicle that struggles as soon as you reach the foot of a hill .. .. :xcool:

It's through a dealer and is in Gloucester at the moment. They are bringing it up to South Yorkshire for us. It comes with a three year warranty and they've knocked £1700 off the asking price for us! Plus it's reserved on a refundable £200 deposit until we've seen it and to see if it's suitable with all Steves needs. As long as he can access the toilet, he will be happy. :xgrin:

The swift has 3200 miles on the clock the Rapido has 1800.

As with all things it's compromise, the swift has Alde heating, solar panel, reversing camera.

The Rapido has trauma heating ( I think) two double beds ( so no faffing about making benches into beds. Double floor. Other than that the layout in general is the same. The second bed in the Rapido is a drop down bed.

We spent a long time in the swift ( with David Fuller) but haven't seen the Rapido yet. When we do it may be pants, but if so, we have lost nothing. It doesn't look pants though. It's with Marquis Leisure, but is no longer showing on line.....but we have a PD file of it.
