Hi , my van does not have a spare wheel only the compressor and tube of gunge??
Has anyone had the misfortune of having a flat and did the bottle of gunge work , if not then what??
I now carry a spare but because of the van design I have to carry it inside which is taking up valuable space , so uncertain whether to ditch spare and rely upon gunge if bad luck strikes

The main issue with the gunk is that it won't cure a tyrewall blowout or other large hole in the tyre, so better to carry a spare wheel i.m.o.

Unless it is a very slow puncture at low speed forget the gunge, most punctures on heavy vehicles result in the tyre wall shredding, there is no substitute for a spare.

We managed 5 years touring Europe in our last van without a spare (or incident).

BUT much happier with the new van, which does have one.

First thing I bought was a spare steel wheel and a tyre to go on it. Its not tied up in the rear of the garage on the MH, got a bottle jack also and long wrench. Just thinking of getting a torque wrench now then job done.

Gunge never works on a weekend when you have to be somewhere else urgently 30 minutes ago...........always a spare now in the Moho and both cars.

Depending on your van and your budget, it may be possible to fit an underfloor carrier and spare wheel.

Quiet a lot of new vehicles have the gunge in place of a spare, I never felt very comfortable with just the gunge. The two punctures I have had over the last five years completely destroyed the tire and no amount of gunge would have fixed it. I think if you do get a puncture in a MH the weight would destroy the tire. I'm sure there must be somewhere underneath your MH where you could get a good workshop to knock you up something to house a spare wheel.
What sort of MH do you have?

I forgot to mention earlier, it's worth checking as some (not all) recovery/breakdown policies require you to have a full spare wheel, rather than a repair kit.

another one who's van arrived with no spare and just the compressor and liquid sealant...
firstly you may have issues getting anyone to repair a tyre once you have used the liquid and be forced to buy a new tyre anyway...
i bought a spare wheel , carry a jack and wheelbase and some wheel chocks..
I've looked at undersigning the wheel but I'm thinking the ground clearance will not be enough especially on some of the highland and island ferries so its in the garage for now..

Our New to Us Burstner on a 2010 Fiat Ducato doesn't have a spare wheel and comes with 15" alloys on it. I remembered that I had a spare "Spare" for our previous MH, a Lunar Roadstar on a 2004 Fiat Ducato lurking somewhere in the workshop so I wratched it out and guess what? It is the same fitting as the 2010 so I now have a spare wheel!
Incidentally someone asked the other day about the weight of a spare wheel so scales at hand, I discovered that the steel spare that I now have with a 215/70 15 Michelin Camper tyre on it weighs 26kg.(y)
