Having looked at this and a number of other UK MH forums over the past few days it looks like Spain and Portugal are going to be pretty busy during the first few months of 2016

Hi.
I would not worry about the top two thirds of Portugal being busy, there are municipal and Orbitur (They have a discount system) Plus Dutch run little camp sites scattered all over and the biggest plus of all, masses of free/wild camping spots. There are about 10.5 million people living in Portugal,so it's not exactly over crowded to start with,so come on down, the price is right... Now where have i heard that before......

Never leave a campsite with your clothes line tied to a lamp post.
We virtually never book ahead on sites and have never found one in either Spain or Portugal that is full up in January or February. We have been sunbathing all day in the Algarve so come on down....................

Can only speak for the Algarve, but whilst there are many snowbirds there it is certainly not as busy as it is in the summer. Most campsites have space though some of the very cheap/free areas get full many others have plenty of space. There are facilities to suit all tastes though you probably will not find any sites as pristinely mantaned as CC sites. We have not heard any adverse reports from our chums out there now, and it seems apart from the severe rainstorm a few weeks ago that washed out Albufeira old town the weather has been better than last year
