Hi, we have our ferry booked to Santander in March and looking for itinerary ideas for a trip to Lisbon area then northwards via Oporto, Galicia for a 6 week trip. We are looking at Salamanca as our first Spanish stop - having enjoyed our visit last Easter - but thereafter we haven’t been to Portugal in our Bailey moho before. Any interesting towns/cities that we MUST VISIT would be welcome. We do not intend going to Algarve.
We are not intending doing lots of one nighters but would prefer campsites for 3/4 nights with ehu close to interesting places. We are taking our bikes.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know if you have left yet but Salamanca is a good start. We stayed at Camping Rejio https://www.google.co.uk/maps/searc...0.9480007,-5.6148118,682m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en you can ride your bike through parks and along the river right into the centre of the city. The cathederal is magnificent, and the architecture in the Plaza Major is spectacular. There are many fantastic buildings in the city which requires more than one day.

We also went to Peso da Régua and stayed in the Área de Serviço de Autocaravanas. We had a boat trip up the Douro river to Pinhão then caught the train, which follows the river, back down. Well worth it. You go through the massive lock (90 ft lift) that Prunella and Tom went through on their canal journeys.
