Refitting roof light (1 Viewer)

I am just about to refit a heki rooflight and was wondering wether to use mastic from a roll or butyl sealer from a tube has anyone got any veiws on this?

mastic from a roll is the best imho less mess

Ours took 3 hours for 3 and were trouble free.

don't know what the garage did though

If you want to use mastic from a tube take a bit of time and mask off around the rooflight where you dont want sealant to go with masking tape. You can then smug as hell run a finger along to make it look nice and neat and then peel the masking tape off to reveal a lovely edge like a professional had done it.

No Mess really save from the yards of silicon covered tape so have a carrier bag handy to shove it all in.

I would suggest you use a non-setting bedding mastic such as Carafax IDL 99

this allows the seal to flex without leaking..

use white spirit on a rag to clean off excess
