    If you're exercising your dog/s near trees, especially fir type trees, look up. If you see what looks like round nests made from white candy floss, think processiaries and move the dogs on.

    There is one big pine tree on the road into Camping Ria Formosa which has now lots of the caterpillars.

    Noticed half a dozen dead pigeons at the base of the tree last week and a few more since, thought someone had been poisoning them until I saw the caterpillars.

    Didn't know they affected birds.
