We have a Pioneer AVIC Z1000 unit that has started to make a noise from inside the head unit. Sounds a bit like a hard drive.
Tried to attach a file of the but failed.
Can someone can tell me how to upload an audio file.

Don't think you can upload an audio file just do it as a video.

May just be the cooling fan getting noisy, if it's a fairly new unit only a few years old it's unlikely to have a hard drive.

My Pioneer head unit has a fan, which you can't really hear when the van engine is running, however, Carthago use the head unit to provide sound for the Alphatronic tv. If I use this, the fan is very annoying indeed. ( I use a Bluetooth speaker so it's not a problem).

Have a close look at the front panel, you may see a small hole which is a reset. We had a similar issue, it sounded like a cd was stuck.
After pressing the reset (I used a cocktail stick) the unit went back to factory settings, so perhaps make a note of your current settings. No further issues.
