peugeot boxer engine

    i have an elddis autostratusse on a 1998 plate it has peugeot 1.9 petrol engine and its developed a noise what sounds like a blowing exhaust but all the exhausts new and been checked. iwas told it could be stepper motor but thats ok as well it did have a tick over problem but that cured when cleaned stepper motor also there is no power loss. any one got any ideas

    trying to imagine the exhaust blow type sound , it could be some sort of " air escape" somewhere ; are all pipes secure in the engine airflow section?

    Without seeing it we could only guess at what the problem is, I am baffled by the mention of a stepper motor though, What stepper motor and what is it connected to please? How was it cleaned?

    Pretty much if it sounds like a blowing exhaust it is going to be a blowing exhaust. Perhaps if you could record the sound and upload the sound file so we can listen to it might help. Does it sound like its coming from the front, in the engine bay, tailpipe, under the vehicle?

    The more info you can provide the better chance we might have to help you.

    hi dave .the sounds coming from front of engine bay nr to the carb .all pipes have been checked .the stepper motor is on carb and it was cleaned with brake cleaner as recomended to me exhaust was checked by garage that fitted it .

    Stepper motors used to control choke on Rovers etc 20 years ago.
