Nowhere free but I believe both CC and C&CC have sites and I think there are a number of others.

There is a c&cc site on the Oxford ring road (by the Redbridge park and ride). You can walk along the river a short way into Oxford or catch a bus in from the P&R .

Think you will find that they want a booking of 2/3 days. But doesn't hurt to give them a ring .very handy for park and ride. .i stop there once or twice a year as I love Oxford and of course my late wife worked there for many years so great memories for me

Sorry to hijack this post but I'm trying to find somewhere to park in Wantage. I'm a newbie and so far not joined CC or CC& C but does anyone know if they have site there. Reason? It's where my mum lives

There looks to be a cl at Abingdon which is pretty near Wantage. You may find britstops scheme might also provide a pub nearby.

The new Oxford Parkway Station Park and Ride near Kidlington has an area for larger vehicles, I have seen campers there. Sorry don't know what the charge is. Also same deal at Red Bridge Park and ride at the end of the Abingdon Road in Oxford.

I have noticed motorhomes parking in 2 places near Oxford, one on a slip road off the A34/Southern Bypass, going south from the 35A Junction for South Hinksey. The other is off the A44 going to Woodstock. Leave the A34 for Woodstock, and after the first roundabout there is a tree sheltered layby on the left, where lorries sometimes park. I don't know whether it's safe to park there, but it's quite hidden from the road.

Motorhome overnight parking allowed at Rye Farm car park in Abingdon £8, but better still, across the road ( & cheaper) is the Abingdon TOWN FC gated car park ( we're there now)
    Ring Tom for gate code

C&CC site is where we always go, nice walk into city from there and also access to the common across the railway bridge.

It's worth ringing the C&CC site. Lisa & Marcus are the site managers this year, really nice couple. Worth asking if you can just have one night there.

Thanks for the information. At least we can find somewhere to park when my brother moves to Abingdon or if we want to see him amd then move on for trip into Oxford. However still not found anywhere within walking distance of Wantage. Guess we won't be able to visit her with the motorhome.
