Can you still park in the port after the evening vessel departs ?.

Stayed to the side of the departure lanes a week ago with no problems you do not have to wait until check in closes either was loads parked up for night when we arrived at 9.30 then move to the lane next morning.

We arrived about 6pm and spent a safe and peaceful night along with about 20 other units.

We arrived 2am as we got delayed. We rolled up, super quiet.

Lots of van and cars parked up. We have stayed here before, just wanted to check it was still allowed.

Then 6:00 am lots of engines started up, people talking loud, everyone jockeying for position,

We chose a lane that was cornered off, unwittingly. But a lady came over and said she will put us on at the end.

Not an issues as they re-organise everyone later .

Yes they load you according to height to fit the layout of the deck we was one of the first through but loaded nearly last and was still one of the first off .

Bricklayers Arms at Little Bentley is a pub stopover 10 mins from ferry. We stayed there both ways, nice quiet village setting several motorhomes in both times.

I was chatting to a friend the other day, who is a keen golfer and a member of the Harwich and Dovercourt Golf Club, who told me that motorhomes (mainly Dutch), regularly park up at the golf club prior to catching the Harwich Ferry, he said they use the club facilities for a meal and a drink before leaving early next morning for the ferry.

so anyone travelling a fair distance might want to consider it? he suggested contacting the club first

The club is less than a five minute drive away from the ferry terminal !!

I did contact the secretary and the response was that the do not alow overnight parking at the club.

True, you can park by the railings, but there are signs discouraging this (I can't reminder what they say).

There were a few parked up along the railings when we caught the ferry out about five weeks ago. They all then just joined the back of the queue once they had got themselves up and out of bed, prob after having breakfast aswell! Looked ok to me !!

Parked there in August spoke to security and no problems so long as not in departure lanes in case you oversleep will park there 3 times next year .
