I’ve got a puncture at home. Back left.

All 4 tyres only have 8k on them.

On a car I alway replace in pairs.

Can I replace just a single on the MH after such low mileage?

Any other advice?

Thanks

Robin

I would say it depends also on the age of the tyre as well you say 8thousand miles, but how long has it taken to do the mileage, it’s worth having the other one checked for wear and cracks . IMHO

Have you got a spare you could fit and then get another tyre as a spare.

Can the puncture be plugged unless it's on the sidewall then it will need to be replaced

This... If it is a good tyre with a nail in it, as long as it hasn't punctured the tyre on on near the sidewall it can be repaired for about £20.

Unless the puncture is in the side wall or so severe it has damaged multiple cords just get the puncture repaired.. Absolutely no need to replace a perfectly good tyre

In the end I decided to replace both rear tyres. I’m not a fan of repaired tyres when the family are in a 3.5t vehicle.

We’d also damaged both sidewalls, which had small chunks out of them. I blame the Memsahib and our narrow bridlepath drive with “kerbs” of ancient stone walls. We’re much more careful on it now.

I’ll keep the non-punctured one for a spare when I pick up a cheap steel wheel.

Thanks all for the helpful advice.
