Hello all, after joining the site last night I thought I should introduce myself.I am Mark, married to Jan and we have Ben the dog (Rottie). I have been involved with the motorcaravan trade for many years within the family business (Huntsman Conversions), we started of converting all sorts of vehicles and eventually ended up doing alot of specialist vehicles for the various emergency services with just the occasional motorcaravan. Any way back to us, we sold our house late November 2006 complete with contents and bought a large twin axle caravan to live in, late last year we decided it was time for a change and decided a large motorhome would suit us better, over the last 7-8 months I have been been building our new home based on an Iveco Eurocargo ex prison transport van, still have a few finishing off jobs to do ( do you ever really finish) but we have now been living in this for nearly 3 months now. We havn't ventured far over the last few years mainly staying on CL's and CS's in Norfolk as I still have to work now and then, we have just managed to get the Iveco classed as a motorhome with DVLA, got a new class 4 MOT,Tax and insurance , now I'am itching to get on the road for a while. Hopefully with my knowledge I should be able to help others on here and no doubt pick up a few tips on the way so that should do for now and I'll see if I can add a picture of the Van

JIM wants to see the tiny hiding cells

JIM wants to see the tiny holding cells and work out how you sleep in them:Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

That is one advantage of a library van or a prison van they have the future habitation door and steps provided... I suspect this is a door in back version... like the paint work.. better than the old securicor logos or whatever company had it in it's first life.

Thanks for the welcome. As for more pictures I can do that, I can assure you that you wouldn't have been able to sleep in the cells unless you were standing up. a few interior shots

there you go basicly going from front to back, door is on the side up front near the TV, lounge area, then kitchen with partition with sliding door to bedroom, through door into washroom, the cupboard with the TV on hides an air conditioning unit, and the cupboard to the right of the cooker houses a freezer. water tank and boiler under one half of the bed. along with another water tank in an exterior locker with gas bottle etc, grey waste tank also in an exterior locker, aswell as an eberspacher heater,

    nice job

Nice job, thanks for sharing the photos with us... do not worry about the cell remarks.. being a criminal lawyer I am very aware the celled we seats on inside a cage (very small) ... I saw in side one of these and a small one following a client being insured in a crash and had to photograph the cell for insurance issues. The smaller one was a carbon monoxide issue which put my guy in to the diving unit at Great Yarmouth ... was being taken from Lewes Prison in Sussex to Ipswich for a identity parade and was very ill on arrival and had to be taken to be treated... a few very red faces in HMP service over that... involved also Secoricor who were the private transport company.... I was winding up JIM with the remarks.

But as I say like the work you have done... nice job ....

Thanks again for the comments, Frankie unfortunately with funding this project and not working for around six months while building it I don't think we'll get out of our home town this year let alone cross the water , Terry looks like you've done a great job on yours, lost track of how many ambulances I've worked on over the years as we had a contract to build a load of patient transport vehicles for East of England Ambulance NHS Trust, as well as doing a lot of their servicing. Bob I can imagine that some people would have problems in those cells, It was hot weather when I was stripping them out and It took me three weeks to totally strip the interior and I lost around 2 stone,Knokinonabit I'am sure the family business could sort you out, I only really work part time as and when needed, If you want any contact details let me know, we'll do a conversion on vertually anything.............Mark

I think SWMBO would make me sell the Elddis first, but you never know.

Hi Mark and Jan :welcome: to fun. :thumb:
Nice Job you have made of the truck, well impressed and can imagine the time and cost to do anything like that, bet your very pleased with the finished job.
Our daughters live in Norwich, and the youngest has just got a transit minibus, and has built a bed in it, and her next job is a cooker and sink. But it will not have the finish you have with yours. :Rofl1:
We have her dog this weekend, and last we saw of her was filling some water containers and roaring off to playfest for the weekend.

You will have to get along to a rally or meet, and let us have a look. :thumb: Bob and Jane.
