    Hi everyone (again!),

Just another query to annoy you..

Who would you recommend to carry out an inspection for me?

It is totally impractical for me, due to where I live, to travel to inspect a MH only to find it's a dud.!

So I will need a trustworthy engineer to so it for me.

    Any suggestions guys?(y)

Give Dave Newell a ring, he might be able to help you locate who your looking for. He has a first class reputation in the Midlands and elsewhere. (y)

    Cheers Tootles.

Does Dave do the inspections himself?

It might depend a bit on where the vehicle is parked.

I'm sure he does some, but not sure how far he will travel. He's got a 200% record on *fun*, and almost his own fan club!.

Here you go... You can select a mobile engineer, contact them direct.. Pay over the phone and ask them to email you a report once done and maybe note any concerns.

Thanks for the mention Tootles but the only mobile work we do is at shows. If the vehicle in question can be brought to my workshop maybe we can help.

Cheers guys. Thanks for leaving a comment Dave. Not sure where we will find our 'one' but will definitely get in touch if it's Telford based (y)

Is there a rule of thumb cost for such an inspection?

We would probably base it on a hab inspection which is about 3 hours/£135 so £100-£150 ish.

Cheers Dave, thats less than what I thought to be honest.(y)

I think the AA charge around 200, but not convinced I would be guaranteed of getting someone who know's about MH's specifically or just a in house trained mechanic...

when I worked in a dealership we had several AA/ RAC inspections and they may well have been good with the mechanical side but fish out of water when it came to the habitation bit. None of them even had a damp meter and most just glanced into the rear of the vans.

Macic cost is £295. Sounds expensive, is that about the norm though?

They're the only company I've heard of that do a combined base vehicle and habitation check. If you're really serious about a particular van, could save you a lot of money in the long run. Wouldn't suggest paying that for checking out a load of vans you're only mildly interested in tho' .........
