Having a sort out and decided to clear out my Motorcycle gear as cant see me ever riding again.
Need some advise if anyone knows before i list them on facebook.

I have 2 helmets.
Mine is AGV full face, BS kite marked so i dont see any issue with selling for normal road use.
The other (wifes) is made by VEMAR. Cant find and kitemark only a gold ACU sticker.. Am i right that this should be for off highway / road use ??

It needs …

All helmets worn on UK roads must meet one of the following: British Standard BS 6658:1985 and carry the BSI Kitemark. UNECE Regulation 22.05. a European Economic Area member standard offering at least the same safety and protection as BS 6658:1985, and carry a mark equivalent to the BSI Kitemark.

So if nothing then not legal.

All the gear, and no idea!
The gold acu sticker is the benchmark in motorcycle racing helmets, they’re far better than ones without!
You cannot race in a helmet without the gold acu sticker on, that tells me it’s safe!

However all helmets have a shelf life👍

I need a new crash helmet but it's a real issue finding one big enough as I have a ginormous head and a fat face, the current one was imported from America is open face and about 10 years old, if anybody has any suggestions they'd be appreciated, I would prefer an adventure style of helmet if possible.

What size is your current helmet?

I’m an XL in Shoei/Shark etc, but HJC comes up way too small for me too.

Have you tried Schuberth, they go up to XXXL?

I think I need a trip to sportsbikeshop to try a few out, i'm currently at Walton on Thames CCC so the nearest one is probably Reading, i'll be sure to try schuberth whilst i'm there. (y)

There are round shaped heads and oval shaped heads. Try Schubert and Shoei to see the difference.

Could be worth having a word with Helmet City, either online or via one of their stores…

Could be expensive hobby😳😳

What the Experts Say? The consensus from helmet manufacturers is that the rider should replace their helmets every five years. That may seem like a lot, depending on how often you ride.22 Nov 2021

Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
I have a collection of Helmets, Aria being my choice, I just have an Aria shaped head, though recently I purchased a Shark Evo GT Flip brilliant comfortable helmet, I only use it in flip mode having a good screen on the bike.
One thing we have discussed in our Bike club is that some insurance companies now insist that a helmet be renewed every 5 yrs, I really don't agree with this based on my helmets are very well looked after, always cleaned before putting back in the bags. I can see the point if a helmet is abused or has heavy use in competition but not for casual use.

Think my helmet is the same, shark evo flip, very comfortable. Wouldn't go back to a full face one now 👍
