Hi all
Wife has decided we need a new microwave so here's the thing.
Measure it and the one we've seen are all a little bigger. But the hole it lives in has a lot of space round it. So if the one we get is bigger. What is if any is the recommended min distance between the microwave and the surrounds.

Depends on the individual manufacturers instructions we have had 3 at home all same dimensions but all requiring different clearance

many many years! since I was a kid
at least 50mm sides, top and back. I have fitted in a tighter space, but included a pair of fans to move the air out through a rear vent

I've done the same. My fan picks up air from the fridge upper vent and directs it into the microwave air intake. I have 1/4" space around the oven. It's a combi and even on convection the surrounding woodwork stays cool.
