Not sure if anyone can help please.
Presently driving through Spain in our Kingham. A few weeks back l picked up a nasty rash on my ankle. I ventured into a pharmacy and they gave me some cream that hasn't been successful.
I now need to see a doctor but l am unsure of how that works in Spain.

Do l a, walk into a hospital for help or b, do l walk into a Medical/Health centre hoping that there will be a doctor based in them or....???

Hi, are you wanting to use your EHIC? If so in Google maps search Urgencias you will see them come up. Just make sure, you can usually tell from the description that it is a public not private hospital. You could go to any town medical centre, they would probably give you a temporary SIP card upon showing your EHIC and passport, but an appointment to see a doctor might not be forthcoming, we all have to wait. Lastly, if you are willing to pay a little there are many private doctors, an appointment may be €50 say, but fast to see, you can also easily find specialists in Spain, Google dermatologist and you might find one on a high street near you. All depends if you are willing to pay a certain amount. All the best 👍 Janie

Try a pharmacy (big green cross 🙄). A local hotel should be able to tell you which ones have English speakers.

Not sure if this is what you need but we are in Spain and have used this on infected bites very successfully. Think it might have a mild steroid in it.

Bought in a pharmacy.

Hope you get better soon.

Getting treatment with obvious signs is not a difficult situation to be in....you might not need to explain too much be prepared to show your rash to get an appointment.. Google Translate the following..

When did you notice or how long you have had the rash. Is it localised..

Is it the first time..

Do you have allergies..

Any pain or have you had a fever..

If you use Translate you can formulate some answers..Giving the Medic something to work with....Write down a simple statement...in English, Translate it and show the Doc.

If you speak Spanish ignore the above.. choose a small town with a Centro Salud or Consultario...in general a Medic will be present...or a Nurse...you may get the required treatment with little wait...

Good luck..

I once had an infected eyelid when in Spain that looked appalling and felt worse. I went into a pharmacy and the pharmacist came out, looked at it, said "Euch" or words to that effect and gave me exactly the right cream. Of course your problem might be something much worse but I would encourage you to try the pharmacist. They are very good. Hope it works out for you. Mags

Has the OP made any progress with getting treatment yet, it's now Fiesta time in Spain, so walk in services may be limited.
