I always lock my water filler...

It is not to stop people stealing water... it is to stop them putting stuff into the water.... like diesel (at manned service stations.)

Inlet yes to protect the water supply. Outlet no, cannot sees why this would be needed.

Once had our water drained during the night while parked by our families apartmen in Spain. Presumed it was either the local kids messing about, or one of the locals whos parking space I was probably taking up, taking his revenge, didnt realise we didnt have water till we needed it next day when we parked up miles from anywhere, fortunately we carry our drinking water separately in 5 ltr bottles, so no big deal.
Still dont lock, likely hood of it happening again pretty remote. Should have realised as when we were about to leave in the morning, I noticed a damp patch around the van.
Like JJ always keep our filler cap locked at all times.

    regards

Our fresh water drain is a plug which can only be pulled from inside the van so both no need for and no possibility of a lock  I always lock the cap on the inlet for reasons others have given.
