Hi
Planning to go to lake Como next year in May for 8 nights, does anyone have any good sites to recommend. We will be driving down from Rotterdam and then staying for 8 nights. Any suggestions on stopping on one site or dividing stay up on two, never been before so would like to know if there's enough to do just on one site.fancying magic lake site at minute would appreciate any feedback.

We stayed at Magic Lake 2015 for 7 nights and we really liked it, owner was very help full as I had a trailer problem which he had sorted. Nice site, and facilities, not large, wifi at bar.
With regard of things to do, we have a motorcycle and push bikes so everything was available to us. There is a bus service on the main road 100 yards away, but locally its walks, etc.
Hope that helps.

I don't know if you have a particular reason for choosing Lake Como but I spent 3 weeks earlier in the year on Lake Iseo (Lago D'Iseo) which was wonderful.

It is much quieter than the more well known lakes and it's less commercialised. Still lots to do and see. There are two or three campsites on the shore which are pretty good. I stayed at the one just north of Sulzano. I was there filming the Floating Piers exhibition by Christo and Jeanne-Claude.

Highly recommend a visit even if you don't stay (the exhibition was only for a couple of weeks so the Piers are long gone)

Amazing. I was certain it was CGI then I googled it. What a privilege to have seen it for real.

It was an amazing experience. It created a festival type atmosphere in the area which was wonderful. That said by week two the road system had descended into chaos but it was worth it. I think its unlikely something like this could be staged in the UK.

The little island with the house on it is owned by the Beretta family. I thought it was pretty decent of them to give up their privacy for two weeks in the middle of the summer for the "greater good". The house was occupied most of the time.

Thanks for adding the link, I should have done it! (It uses some of my pics)

Another clip with people using it.........

Yep. I guess they weren't too worried about anyone climbing over the wall

You just have to love the old rich Italian families. They have such excellent taste. That island, beautiful, subtle display of wealth. I live in an area where the footballers live, all that matters is size.

If you time your vacation well you too can join the traffic queues around any of the lakes when it is their August bank Holiday. There is some parking at Como within walking distance of the lake on campercontact.

We found a fabulous sosta (free) above Lake Orta this year with water and chemical disposal point at Madonna del Sasso. Good flat parking with the most stupendous view of the whole lake just along the road. It was absolutely magical at night. The Dutch couple parked next to us had just completed a circuit of the lake on their bikes. The road up is twisty but do-able and well worth it. We will go back there. PS: It's in the Camperstop book.
