All the gear, and no idea!
Is the bond bug yours?? Love them, remember seeing them in my childhood, you don’t see many lime green ones though, all mainly orange👍👍
Jon, go into the 80’s get yourself a nice Yamaha RD500 power valve (first bike I ever rode with gears, yes I kid you not, at 18 yrs old, and I didn’t get my licence till I was 31 😁😁😁)

I once owned a bug, from memory only ever left factory in orange, could be wrong, but once read it was down to fact that orange for some reason was the cheapest paint they could get.

I rode all off them when they were launched, RD and RG500, CBX6, First Gsx, VF's but dont think I could sit on one for long now. One of the most memorable bikes I remember was a VF1000F, dodgy camshaft era but fabulous power delivery, That would probably suit me.

Bond bug is just great fun, surprisingly lively, handles pretty well and makes everyone smile.

They are GRP so it would have been pigment in the gelcoat I would imagine or did they spray them after moulding?

While production Bugs were almost exclusively painted orange, four white and six lime green examples were produced for promotional purposes. In 1990, the Webster motor company acquired many of the original moulds and tooling for the Bug, and reproduced a number of four-wheeled examples.

I think mine had been painted but it was a few years old when I got it and had had a few scrapes.

But you got me wondering if the original finish was coloured gel coat, according to some of web resources they were actually painted.

I remember repairing mine, but cannot remember if coloured gel coat or paint as original.

Definitely fun to drive.

If I recall correctly, one had to get out and push it backwards if someone parked in front of you ?
ASFAIK they originally had reverse gear blanked off to qualify as driveable on a Motorcycle licence. They also had to be less than 410kgs, so aluminium engine and gearbox, Its surprisingly lively to drive, faster than the 850 mini.

I’m glad I wasn’t imagining seeing a lime green one, I was positive I’d seen one in our village when I was a kid, but that will have been 50 yrs ago🤷‍♂👍

It was the Gelcoat, the underneath is the same colour only not as smooth.

Mine had reverse and I drove it on a motorcycle licence, don’t recall it being illegal

I do like the black 750. I had a red one when I was 18.

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be. I'd never ride any old bikes as it would kill the memories

Only new bikes for me nowadays
