Looks like you had a great trip.
Talking to some Dutch people on our travels in June and they were saying to us don’t bother going as their country is boring 😳😳 seems you have found the not so boring places😁😁

Love Brugge and have been 3 times in the last 10 months! Was very busy at all them times so never a good time to go for a quiet stroll around😁😁

We really liked Holland. The ambiance and scenery are like nowhere else that we have been and can compare to. We thought that Bruges was beautiful today but actually we preferred what we had seen in Holland, most likely because we have spent a week already in such beautiful places and therefore by the time we got to Bruges we were all « scenery’d » out.
We will return to both but most likely to try North and East Holland next in the van and Bruges on a city break sans child.

The aire at the marina is a good place to stay as a 10min walk into the centre of town😁

So what are the chances of parking up at Gravelines next to a FUNster other than Chaser. Safe travels Treeeev Trevor.
After a beer in the sun, we walked into town to The Baker Street. It was FERMÉ, proprietors on holiday. Plan B, book a table at L’exclusiv. Gosh it was good to have French food again, sat outside on what turned into a lovely evening with great food, funky cocktails and a game of UNO or two.

Friday dawned although we missed the dawn part sleeping off the excesses of French wine and Belgian beer. It was the last day of our holiday. The ferry was booked for 7pm and with the weather looking a little ropey we headed into Boulogne and Nausicaa, Europes largest aquarium. It’s quite pricey at EUR83 for the 3 of us, but it’s definitely worth it (if you like looking at fish) with a big focus on environmental matters and education.

There is a section of the tour that takes you behind the scenes at the aquarium which gave you a great view of the scale and also the ingenuity of how the different types of environment for over 24,000 animals are created in one 10 million litre tank.

The walk back up the hill to the aire looked like being a wet one so we decided to grab a late lunch in one of the restaurants by the beach. Moules all round and the sun came out which made the steep climb rather sticky.

The mandatory supermarket dash and it was onto the boat and home by midnight. And that was it, holiday over and back to normality.

Had an absolutely amazing holiday but it’s great to be back home with the animals…..until next year when France again beckons. À bientôt.

I just revisited this thread as I'm planning a trip to Holland. Great writing and photos & I enjoyed your sense of humour, door porn etc too.
Many thanks!
